Biometric DRM? You're kidding, right?

I am getting so tired of RIAA (isn't eveyone?). Their latest idea is biometric digital rights management. What this means, you buy a portable media player and register your fingerprint with it. That way, you and only you, are able to listen to music played by this unit... No, take a moment to soak that in. They are saying you are breaking the law if you let someone listen to your mp3 player if they have not purchased the song they are able to listen to. That just blows my mind. How the hell do they figure ANYONE is going to buy a media player that won't work for anyone but you. What if I own one and my wife wants to borrow it to go running or something? In Washington, we share ownership of everything under state law, does that also mean she owns the right to listen to the same music I can? What if I want to ebay my old player and get a new one? Can I ebay it? How do you change owners on it? I seriously don't think it will ever get off the ground. No one wants to deal with that.

Maybe if we all ignore RIAA, they will go away.
