JV Show at the Showbox
On saturday Erin and I went and saw John Vanderslice at the Showbox. The tickets said the doors open at 6pm, but after calling, we learned the doors were at 6:30pm. So we showed up around 6:30pm and found a line around the block. We were not really expecting this since the Warped Tour was this weekend as well and we assumed most people would be out at that.
We decided that we would go get a coffee at the "First Starbucks" over across the street from the Pike Place Market. We stood across the street from the Showbox for a little while watching all the crazy people walking down the sidewalk. After a while we decided to just go and stand in line. Only a few minutes after joining the end of the line, we were informed that ticket HOLDERS can go right in. So all of these people didn't have tickets!
Once inside, we stoped by the merch table. I got a JV t-shirt and a limited CD called MGM Endings. This is a CD of Cellar Door remixes. Just after I purchased, we realized it was John himself standing next to the table, talking to people. So we got the chance to talk to him a little bit. He is a really nice guy. He even signed the back of the CD cover. Did I mention he is a really nice guy?
Prior to JV taking the stage, we spotted the set list on the sound booth equipment. We were excited that a lot of our favorites were on the list. '424' was near the bottom. The set was really good, but somewhere after 8 or 9 songs, we noticed a guy on the side of the stage pointing to his watch. John mouthed "one more song" to him and that was that. He didn't get a change to play '424' which is by far our favorite. All in all it was a great show. We got there on time, JV played first, and we left. We walked out and it was still light out! That was a wierd feeling and made it seem like we got a whole lot done for the day.
We went home and made pizza. The pizza was yummy.
