THE ODYSSEY, complete and online. Free to read.
The Illiad, again complete and online. Free to read.
I have always wanted to read both of these, but never got the chance. Actually, I don't read near as much as I would like to.

Ha! MSNBC has some funny local stories this morning. Firstly, Bus driver disciplined for insult to Muslims. Because we all know exactly how psycho the bus drivers in Seattle really are. Now apparently they are racist bastards as well.
A Metro driver has been disciplined for posting a sign in his bus Sept. 14 that reportedly urged people to be unsympathetic toward all Muslims.
The other day Erin and I were talking about what kind of idiot would actually send in a fake Anthrax letter as a joke. Well, this morning I found that idiot. He lives in Seattle and works for one of the local TV stations. Anthrax 'joke' gets editor in trouble.
An assignment editor at KIRO-TV told police he was "just playing a joke" when he filled an envelope with crushed peppermint Life Savers, addressed it to his own newsroom, and wrote "Anthrax, FL" as the return address.
The stupidity of some people just astounds me.

Something very odd appeared outside of my office today. We have a very large spool of interduct (the orange tube that you run fiber cable through so it is more protected) sitting outside of our front door. It has been there for a few weeks now, waiting for a tech to come get it for a job. Usually I think nothing of it.
Today though, there are some items sitting on top of the spool that I found very interesting. There is an empty coffee can with an empty beer bottle in it, an unopened tin of vienna sausages, a packet of some kind of freeze dried fruit bar, an empty paper coffee cup, and a pair of glasses with lenses so thick I can't see through them. Who would leave these items here. Why did they leave these items here. Maybe it was some homeless person, I don't know.
Anyway, it is really cold outside today. Not cold enough to freeze the slight rain, but with the wind it is downright bitter out there. And I forgot my scarf this morning. poo

I bought a GPS unit today. It is the Garmin eTrex Legend. Wow is it cool.
So after work today Erin and I decided to get out of the house and go Geocaching. We went to 2 sites, but found neither of them. We will look for more in the future I am sure.
Time for another Thera-Flu induced night of no coughing.

In other news (read: I fucking forgot because I can't think today), when I was at 7-11 I noticed a stack of newspapers sitting just inside the door. The paper (called the Seattle Insider) looked amazingly similar to the Westword weekly indie paper from Denver that I miss oh so much. So I picked it up, but have yet to read it. I am at work after all.
The website for the Seattle Insider isn't as impressive as Westword however. Too bad.

Still sick, and still coughing all night long and getting no sleep. Last night I woke up around 2:30am coughing so hard it hurt. I have no idea how long I was doing this in my sleep before I finally woke up. So I took half a dose of NyQuil at 2:30 and went back to bed. I so did not want to get up this morning. The whole day so far has just been a haze. I'm sure my productivity level is almost nil.
Anyway, I had to go across West Seattle to return some movies we rented over the weekend. While I was out I remembered Erin wanted a new lighter because the mass of lighters we have are all close to dead. So in I went to a 7-11 to buy a lighter. I don't know why, but I felt mildly embarassed to buy a pink one. There was no one else in the store except me and the old asian lady working there. Still, it felt wierd.
Tonight we are going out with Jish and the Seattle blogging crowd. I'm thinking of inviting Jish into the CommunityZero thing I set up for Seattlites, seeing as he is here so often. Well, once they are done with their badly timed upgrade. Nothing like inviting a lot of people into an online community, just so they can go there and get told they can do nothing for the next 4 days because of an upgrade. So yeah, back on topic, we are all going out for "after dinner drinks" even though 7:30pm is still dinner time for Erin and I. But, as of yesterday I noticed someone outside of our normal group is going to attend. yay.
3 hours of work remaining. I don't know how I have gotten through today so far, I just hope I can keep it up without nodding off at my desk.
