Wow, this is interesting. Since when does ICQ have a web based version on their program? Well, as of today at least I have found it. It says it is still in beta, but it worked on the first try for me. And it seems pretty stable so far. Funny thought how it has less ads then the full version. Anyway, check out ICQ Lite if you are an ICQ user who finds yourself away from your main computer quite a bit. Other then that it is useless.

Windows XP users will find this article about the QoS Packet Scheduler very helpful in reclaiming the 20% of available bandwidth that Windows XP restricts. I noticed a huge difference in the time it took to transfer large files on my network after performing these steps.

Canada is going for the gold! The Canadian men's hockey team defeated Belarus today 7-1 and earned the right to play against the winner of the USA vs Russia game this afternoon. I might be an American, but in this I am rooting for Canada. Canada deserves gold this time.

JR from Less Than Jake has a journal called JR's Tour Diary. I like reading about bands on the road. Unless of course theya re totally spoiled and rich and get to stay in hilton resorts the whole tour.

Anyway, Less Than Jake is coming to Seattle in March. The exact day is March 25th at the Moore Theater in Seattle. They will be playing with Bad Religion and Hot Water Music. Should be a good show, I think I will be there.

There is a new service in Seattle, called Restaurants To Go. You simply enter your zip code, and can then choose from a menu of resaurants, liquor stores, and convenience stores who are willing to deliver your food to you. They even allow you to send feedback about each order to either restaurantstogo.com or straight to the merchant. I entered my home zip code, and no services are offered yet. Too bad. However, from work I have a very large selection. With any luck, Seattle will get to the point Montreal is.

Pimps at Sea; Arrrrrr, bitch!

Unprecedented graphic detail: purple silk sails flap in the wind. Blood disperses realistically in the water when you board another pimp's ship and cut him - or when he cuts you.

Traverse the seas in style on a ship plated with one of seven precious metals. Unlock multiple cars for port town cruising.

Unique Tooth Powerup system allows you to increase your pimpin' skills.

Incredible Turn Them Out(tm) Technology allows you to import characters from other games on your system ... and pimp them!

Bungie is wierd.

Anyway, comments. So the 3 of you who actually come here still can bitch about my crappy posts.

I'm back after a nice internet-free weekend. Erin pretty much bet me that I couldn't go the whole weekend without touching the computer. Well, I sure showed her!

Actually, we had a pretty good weekend, all in all. On Friday we decided to go out to eat. I ate many many shrimps (er, prawns to a seaport city) and erin had a pretty good lobster and shrimp pasta dish. We even made it home in time to see most of the opening ceremonies for the 2002 Olympics.

Saturday, lots of Olympic watching, and some homemade pizza. mmmm

Sunday we got up early to do some grocery shopping, and then watched a bit of the Olympics. We saw an 18 year old girl win the gold medal for the USA in the women's snowboarding halfpipe event. It made me want to take up snowboarding, which is much too expensive of a hobby right now. Later in the afternoon we met my father (who is in town till Friday) for dinner at a great place on Alki Beach called Duke's. It was mostly seafood, and the clincher was the all-you-can-eat crab on Sundays. So we sat there for an extra 30 minutes watching my dad eat 2 1/2 full crabs. It was a fun night though.

Anyway, I am really glad we have CBC on our digital cable. I think they have the best Olympic coverage so far. NBC just kind of sucks when it comes to staying on one subject for more then a few hours. Many times over the weekend we turned to NBC and saw they were playing some crappy prime-time drama rather then the Olympics, which they are the only network allowed to broadcast in the US. It sort of makes me mad. But, my hat is off to the CBC for their great coverage. Even their Olympic Coverage Website is really well done.

Lately, one of my favorite shows on TV has been the weekly episodes of Insomniac with Dave Attell. He show is a 30 minute whirlwind of his overnight stays in the towns he visits on his stand up tour. After his show, he takes a camera man all over town looking for fun things to do in the middle of the night. Not only is this a very funny show, it is also fun to see what people do when they are up all night in towns other then the one I am in.

In fact, how can you go wrong with a theme song like this:

"AWWWW...
Drunks and losers,
Dwarves with limps,
Flos and ho's and one-eyed pimps -
Down the alleyway they creep.
They're all your friends when you can't sleep.

Come with me and you will see.
A late-night-freak-show-Jubilee!
Kick the Sandman in his sack;
Stay up late - Insomniac!"

You can get the MP3 here.

Surprising enough, the new Pepsi ad which ran durring the superbowl didn't do very well with viewers. Personally I would rather watch someone drink a can of pepsi with piss in it then see britney spears whoring herself out to the public via a major consumer product. In fact, I am still waiting to hear that she too has died in an airplane crash because ironicly her plane was stuffed with too much pepsi, making it too heavy to take off. Or better yet, stuffed with her fans.

Anyway, currently only 36% of the voters on the IFILM site actually think it was a good ad. I applaud the other 64% for not jumping on the trashy band wagon.

You can see the stats for yourself at the IFILM - Super Bowl Ad - Pepsi-Cola: Britney Montage page.

Some good news. My checkbook (which was thought to be stolen along with the rest of the contents of my truck) has been found. It was thrown under one of the seats. So at least I don't have to worry about having to deal with finding out my account is empty.

Tonight was SWUD 5. We had around 20 people there this time. Not a bad turnout for a non-Jish event. Speaking of, he should be back in Seattle soon. Or so I hear. I think the Pyramid Alehouse should be the new home of SWUD events, they were very nice to us and even split up the check so we could all be lazy and not have to count up our own totals. Not to mention their atmosphere is tons better then some of the other places we have gone to in the past.
