Sorry for my lack of updates lately. We have been so busy with preparing to move I havne't had a chance to post here.

As for what has been going on... Let's see...

We have no internet access at our old apartment as of last Wednesday because I had to bring my old cable modem with me to the new apartment when AT&T set up the new service. Why I had to do this, I have no cluse. He didn't use my old modem, nor my old Digital Cable box. Oh well, at least our TV still works without the box, though we don't get any digital channels. So yeah, we have internet and TV already set up at the new place, and Qwest should have our phone line set up by the time 5pm rolls around. All that is left to do is move in. Which isn't going to be too big of an ordeal, provided it doesn't rain. If it does rain, we are going to have to decide weather to wait it out, or go rent a truck to move our couch and old bed.

Which reminds me, we are getting a new bed soon. So that will be good. Also, I decided my current computer desk wasn't going to survive yet another move in its life, so we threw it away last night. On the way home from work we were talking about the desk, and decided to take a quick trip down to IKEA and see what they had in the way of desks these days. We found a fairly sturdy desk that was big enough for my needs, all for the price of $79. Next week we are going to go back and pick up a matching desk for Erin's computer as well. Also while we were at IKEA, as we were roaming through the maze of stuff on our way to the Selfserve Warehouse, we happened upon the section reserved for frames and prints. Erin gasped and pointed to the right. I followed her gaze and gasped myself. There on the shelf in front of us was the Slightly North frog!!!!

Needless to say, we bought the print and a frame to go with it. It will be proudy hanging above my desk in the new apartment from this moment on.

So yeah. All of tonight and a good part of tomorrow is going to be spent packing and moving into the new place, and then unpacking. Sunday we have reserved for cleaning of the old apartment so we can hope to get our deposit back.

Anyone who feels like helping us move either tonight or tomorrow can call my cell phone.
Project Dolphin is a project to see how many keystrokes you type. It also uploads your count to a database and ranks you with others who are a part of the project as well.

I'd like to dedicate this song to dan... for always telling me how punk I am:

I'm not a punk [click for mp3]
i'm not a punk
how can i be?
show me the way to conformity
try to be different
but it's always the same
end up playin' someone else's game

i'm just a square goin' nowhere
i'm just a square goin' nowhere

you used to walk by my side
now you see me comin'
now you hide
i see you here
i see you there
i can see that you don't care

i'm just a square goin' nowhere
i'm just a square goin' nowhere

i'm just a square goin' nowhere
i'm just a square goin' nowhere
i'm just a square goin' nowhere
square goin nowhere

So yeah, I downloaded a ton of Descentents stuff. It reminds me of being 15 again. Not that being 15 was all that great, but at least back then the music was better. Ugh, how old man is that? I also walked 10 miles to school, up-hill both ways in 10 feet of snow with no shoes or a coat. You damn kids have it easy these days, and your "current music" sucks ass.

Just so you know.
My sister is too cool:

Heather says: i spent all weekend working on a movie and had a featured part where I had to stand next to Vince Vahn all day.
Shawn says: woah.... that's cool... did he call you money?
Heather says: he was such a weirdo, he had a mic and was OBNOXIOUSLY singing Elvis songs LOUDLY into the mic both days. And by the end of the second, he was so drunk, he had an assistant telling him where to stand
Heather says: I also got to meet Andy Dick, Will Farrel, and Ralphy from A Christmas Story
Shawn says: what movie was it for?
Heather says: It's called Old School. The last day of shooting was Sunday, so it should be out by Fall
Shawn says: cool... was that other guy who is in 80% of the Vince Vahn movies in it too?
Heather says: No, but he was there on Sunday and I got to say Hi to him too. It was pretty cool. Snoop Dog was there on Sunday preforming for our scene. I think I got a contact high from him.
Shawn says: hahaha
I'm so glad it is that time of year again. I am of course talking about the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The 2001-2002 regular season ends on April 14th and the playoffs begin on April 17th. I can't wait!
The NHL trade deadline was yesterday at 3pm ET. Some of the trades are downright shocking. Among the players being moved around are Adam Oates, Joe Nieuwendyk, Darius Kasparaitis and Jason Arnott. In total, there were 17 trades involving 35 players. Many of who are moving from the Eastern Conference to the West.

The Avalanche (one of my two favorites) aquired Darius Kasparaitis from the Penguins in a deal for forward Ville Nieminen and defenseman Rick Berry. Kasparaitis is considered the crown jewel of this year's trade crop. Not a bad trade considering Nieminen hasn't has his best season, and Berry has yet to get a point this year.

You can read more about all the trades (if you like hockey) by going to NHL.com - On The Fly.

As far as my other favorite NHL team, the Toronto Maple Leafs, coach and GM Pat Quinn didn't trade anyone for two reasons, the price was too high and the talent was too low. The Leafs are not without their news though. Last Friday they aquired goalie Tommy Barrasso, however he has yet to start a game. Current goalie Corey Schwab has been given his 10th straight start despite Barrasso's presence. None of this goalie business would even be going on, had Curtis Joseph's injury not happened. Joseph's injury was supposed to be the iceburg of this season for Toronto.
Think DSL is fast? Watch VDSL. VDSL will allow an uplink of up to 28mbps. Most likely will only be cost effective for commercial use, it is a big step towards insanely fast connections from home. You can read more about it at ZDNet News.
Well well well, Erin and I had thought UC Undercover was cancelled and never to be seen on TV again. But, according to Deep Undercover - UC: Undercover Fan Site, NBC will be showing 2 episodes in a row starting at 8pm on Saturday, March 23rd. It looks like these 2 episodes could be the final ever for this production. Too bad, it looks like it had a pretty big fanbase, and it was a well written show. Erin says it is like watching little movies. At least we get the last two though.
Hacking with a Pringles tube is interesting. I can't wait to hear about all the people getting into trouble while eating Pringles in their car.
This might be a tool I could make use of. It's called e2do.com - Your Free Online Organizer. It has a task list and calendar, and will allow you to let other people assign you tasks. I use the task list in Microsoft Outlook quite a bit, but can't access it if I am not at my computer at work. Having something online would be nice.

The Lycos 50 Daily Report with Aaron Schatz is a listing of the 50 most looked for trems on the web. We were looking at it for some reason yesterday and it gave me an idea. So I give to you, all 50 most searched for terms from today, arranged (in order) into a logical story:

The other day I was using Morpheus to look for a song I heard while watching the Olympics. Of course, I would only switch away from Dragonball to check on the progress of Apolo Anton Ohno.

Meanwhile I was looking for something to do with the check I was expecting from the IRS. Of course there would be no way I would spend a dime of it on Britney Spears. I was thinking more along the lines of getting some tattoos. I know a lot of people use their taxes to gamble in Las Vegas, but that just isn't my idea of a good time. I also wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people blow their money on Anna Kournikova stuff. These are the same kind of people who plaster their car with NASCAR stickers.

I'm suprised that in all of the Chu Mei-Feng Taiwan sex scandal news, no one has thought of how bad it is over here too. I mean, just how skanky does Pamela Anderson have to get before people start to notice? I dread the future if she is a household name as big as Dr. Seuss. It's just sad that some people have to be more plastic then real to feel good about themselves. Already there is a niche of people who prefer to look at women more fake then something you would see in that Final Fantasy movie. It does nothing to help that the Grammy Awards glorify stuff like that so much.

I used to know a guy who would spend all day smoking Marijuana while searching KaZaA for WWF clips. We all thought he was a complete retard. I mean come on, just how trash do you have to be to glorify fake "wrasslin'" and still try and call it a professional sport? I mean, at least the NFL doesn't fake the whole thing. The only way you could get me to actually watch crap like that is if they all came out in prom dresses and started making fun of the crowd. Better yet, they could also come out, each with the bible, and start to point out the errors and contradictions in it. I would watch that just to see people like Oprah Winfrey go nuts complaining about it.

That makes me think about that stupid Survivor show. I don't watch it, but it is kind of hard to live in this world without hearing about it every so often. I might actually watch it if the money prize went to something meaningful. The student aid program FAFSA would be a good one. Or better yet, the money would go to help people who are fighting with problem in their lives like homelessness or anorexia. But in the end it goes to some crappy people who idolize idiots like Jennifer Lopez because she likes to appear in public wearing some crap that leaves nothing to the immagination.

I don't know how to get Harry Potter into this, so I will do it the cheap way like this. There, that is done.

How did Daniel Pearl achieve martyrdom just by being a zealous reporter who broke the rules? She was in a war zone and outside of the protection of the military. Too bad it was some stupid reporter and not someone even worse like R. Kelly. It would be cool if we could have something like World War II but that only involved all the annoying people in the world. Let them all kill themselves. Meanwhile the rest of us will be distracted with baseball and the controversy of cloning.

I'm happy that Lord of the Rings is still more popular then the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, but it sucks that it is even on this list at all. I would rather go see Linkin Park in New York City then an NBA game.

Ok, this is boring now, and it is taking me all day. So whatever. I have no comment on the following: skateboarding, Martin Luther King, resident evil, Enron, geek mythology, Shakespheare, Michelle Kwan, love poems, Shakira, Pokemon, NCAA Basketball, and Sarah Hughes!

Google is going to go nuts with this post.
Erin and I are moving! We put down a $500 deposit today and we move in at the end of the month. We are moving into this building. It is one of the coolest apartments I have seen. Although I think Grand Lowry Lofts where we lived in Denver was a much cooler building. However, as far as Seattle goes, this new place is very cheap for how nice it is.

As well, they are going to let us slowly move our stuff in as much as 2 weeks in advance. I love a private owned building. They are so much nicer and personal.

Anyway, the little savings tracker is quickly depleting, but at least it is going to good things. And we should expect to get our deposit back from this current place.

Happy day!
Oh, I removed quite a bit of fluff around here while I was moving to Moveable Type. Namely BlogSnob and the comment system. Both of which were hosted on servers other then mine. Page load times were getting downright nasty if both of these apps were lagged.
Erin is now employed, which is cool. She is going to be our new receptionist starting Monday. Now we can move into a bigger and better apartment. One with 2 bedrooms. The second bedroom of course being for our computers.
So yeah, Moveable Type. I got sick of how crappy blogger has gotten in the last few months. And with the introduction of the new pro version, I doubt much more effort will be put into making the free version work as well as it has for the last few years.

It's too bad really. Out of all of the personal publishing tools I have used (NewsPro, Blogger, Greymatter, and now Moveable Type), Blogger was the best as far as useability went. Bye Bye Blogger.
