Teams To Wear Dark Jerseys At Home In 2003-2004

NHL Clubs will wear their dark or "third" jerseys for home games and their white jerseys on the road during the 2003-2004 season.

Teams have been wearing their white jerseys at home almost exclusively since the 1970-71 season, but 21 of the 30 NHL Clubs will have "third" jerseys by next season, and this change, enacted by the Board of Governors at its meeting last week, will enable the home fans to see the dark-colored jerseys more frequently.

Other arrangements can be made among Clubs, on a game-by-game basis, in case a team wants to wear its white jersey at home for a particular event.
Don't mention C-U-B-A on your website, or this might happen to you too.

"All he did was post information on the Internet and they threatened him with fines," said Neil Fox of the Seattle chapter of the National Lawyers Guild.

Dear Sir:

I am a Middle School teacher at blank blank Middle School, blank blank, BC, Canada. I instruct Information Technology classes at the Grade 6 to 8 level. I teach my students about copyright. I instruct them never to take images from the net. My understanding is that all content is the property of its creator or owner. So we create our own images, or get them from a place where they are really free.

That does not mean, however, that my students might not surf the web looking at images. So, yesterday, when one of my Grade 6 students went searching for a stanley cup image using a Google image search and came up with the following image on your site, I was more than a little dismayed.

Would you want your kid to find this kind of thing? I'm quite sure that many would find this image to be pornographic in the extreme. I am considering reporting you to whomever I can. I hope that you will reconsider unleashing this sort of unpleasant surprise on unsuspecting youngsters in the future. I will check back on your site next week and if I still find the offensive image to be present, I will report you to legal authorities.

A Concerned Teacher

I was going to remove that image soon anyway, because it's purpose is finished. I think I will wait 2 weeks to pull that one down, just because. Unless, of course, the RCMPs show up at my door.

500!!!

Joe Sakic scored his 500th career goal last night durring a loss to Vancouver. Sakic's 500th was the only goal posted for Colorado in the 3-1 loss.

Sakic's parents were in attendance as he became the 31st player in NHL history to reach 500 goals. Sakic's 500th came at 4:25 of the second period on the power play, a quick wrist shot past Canucks goalie Dan Cloutier from the left circle after a pass from Derek Morris. Sakic was given a standing ovation.

"It's a great feeling to get the goal, but kind of tough right now, losing a game and falling further behind in the division," Sakic said. "We got off to a bad start and got some chances in the third period, but Cloutier made some good saves. But we're struggling right now. We're not going to catch anybody (in the division) playing like this."

Sakic, who had about 30 family members and friends in the crowd, said he was surprised by the standing ovation.

"They love their Canucks here, so I didn't expect that," he said. "I'm very appreciative of the crowd doing that. It would have been nice to get a win, though, too."
