So rude
I have decided I will no longer be speaking to anyone who has music listening devices in their ears. I am tired of saying something to someone and not knowing if they are going to hear me or not. In fact, I don't think I am even going to smile at these people anymore. They are rude enough to walk around totally disconnected from the world. I mean, I can understand someone out on the street walking or riding a bike. Maybe someone on a bus or ferry or something. Fine. But when you are at work and walking around places you know you are going to encounter people you talk to on a daily basis, take the damn earphones out. It is just plain rude.
Hacking Google Toolbar 2.0 for Firefox
I just installed the latest Google Toolbar for Firefox. I was delighted to find a new feature included; the Subscribe button. You can configure it to subscribe to any feeds available on the page you are currently viewing! Except for one problem, there is no setting to have it subscribe the feed to Google Reader! You can put the feed on your Google homepage, but not reader. I was pretty let down, until I started poking around in the Firefox config. I have come up with a work-around! Enjoy:
1. Open about:config in firefox
2. Filter the options to "google"
3. Find the Preference name:
google.toolbar.subscribe.aggregators.iGoogle.url
4. Change the string to:
http://www.google.com/reader/view/feed/%feed%
5. Set the Subscribe option to "Google Home" and it will now open the feed
preview in Google Reader.
Works like a charm for me. Yay!
