Another good weekend

Erin and I took Friday off of work so we could have a 4 day memorial day weekend break. On Friday we took a small road trip up to the Cascadian Farms roadside stand way up in Rockport, WA. It only took us about 2 hours to get up there. After that we drove a bit further to the Skagit County general store in Diablo and bought some of the best fudge ever. We then went to the gorge overlook and took some pictures. To get home we took the non-interstate route down through Arlington, Monroe, Carnation, and Preston. In total we were on the road for a little over 8 hours. On the way home we stopped and rented two movies. They were both pretty cheesy and bad.

On Saturday we spent some money. We purchased a few needed items along with a new handheld GPS unit. This replaces the one that was stolen back in early 2002. In fact, we got the exact same model. The price had only dropped by about $100 in 4 years. So now we can start geocaching again. We also watched the Edmonton Oilers beat the Ducks to advance to the Stanley Cup finals.

Sunday we did our weekly grocery shopping and mostly just hung out. We watched Munich so we can return it. It was a LONG movie...

Today we are going to see if the weather will hold out long enough for us to hit a couple of local geocache sites for the first time in 4 years. Later we will be making our famous (we at least to us) chili.

Unfortunate name, but an awesome idea! Do-it-yourself large scale printable images.

Relaxing Weekend

Had a fairly relaxing weekend. On Saturday we got our weekly grocery shopping out of the way, had the car washed, and watched our current Netflix movie: The Ringer. It was an awesome movie by the way. Funny as hell and didn't cross the line into tastelessness. In fact, the movie had the support of the Special Olympics fully behind it. In the special features someone commented on how perfect Johnny Knoxville is for this movie because a lot of the kids who watched Jackass are the same ones who make fun of impaired kids.

On Sunday we relaxed a bit. It started raining in the afternoon. There was even some thunder, which is rare for the area. For dinner we had these awesome Italian style chicken sausages in a hotdog bun with onion. Erin had been wanting onion rings from the newly opened A&W in White Center, so I went and picked some up to go with dinner. They were about 70% cold by the time I got them home and you could tell that one bag was much older then the other. Pretty greasy, but tasty overall. After dinner we settled in to watch the Edmonton Oilers beat the Ducks in a 3-1 win to take a 2-0 series lead. Later we watched the first part of the ultra-cheesy 10.5 sequel. Little did we know it was only part 1. Ah well, it looked pretty good in HD.

Mmmmm, it looks so tasty!

Port Operations

Erin and I spent part of yesterday taking pictures around Fremont and West Seattle. This was the best photo I took.

A rather large update

Quite a bit has been happening in my life lately. quite a bit indeed. First, Erin and I sold both of our previous vehicles and have purchased a 2006 Scion Xa. It was a very easy purchasing process. Apparently the prices are the same no matter where you are in the country. You go to the Scion website, pick you model, pick your options, print it out and take it to a dealer who sells it to you. The only real unknowns are you local taxes and license fees (easily discoverable though), and of course your APR which is based on your credit score. However, anyone who doesn't know about where their credit score is by now is living under a rock, or should be! So we got a great 5.74 APR on a 60 month financing term. We are about 1 day away from having all of our selected options installed as well. It is a strange feeling that in less than a week we went from having two older but 100% paid for vehicles, to one nice new compact car. But we love it, so that is really all that matters.

Next, my dentist work is just about completed. I only have one more session to go on the 11th. Then I will be good for 3-6 months. It is nice to finally have this behind me. My medical issue as well seems to be on the way out. The popular belief is that the cause was food borne, most likely from fish. The only place I could have gotten this was from a Mahi fish taco I ate at Anthony's Bell Street Diner about 24 hours before the first symptoms occurred. I don't know how keen I will be to eat there again, but I certainly won't be giving up on fish in general. It is too bad though, because Erin and I both loved the food there. Oh well, the chances of it happening again is pretty remote to begin with anyway. Sunday we are going out for sushi and I don't feel at all nervous about it. Sushi is yummy.

Finally, yard work is needing to be done again. Nothing dies off here like it did in Denver. Back there, every winter all the weeds would die off and have to start over. Here, everything just kind of slows down for the cold rainy winter. As soon as we get a full day of 60 degrees the grass is half a foot tall again. And the weeds are annoying as hell! It doesn't help that the yard behind us has more weeds than grass. However, I do have another plant project. I planted a 4" coffee tree that I will be caring for at work. I doubt it will ever yield any amount of usable coffee beans, but it is still a pretty good looking plant!
